Reading too much on any one topic can make anyone a very firm believer.

Today I'm being totally selfish, and I'm doing only exactly what I want. It's a beautiful day here today, and I went on a nice long run this morning along the path next to the Hudson River. While I didn't run the whole time, I probably covered 10-11 miles total.

When I got home, I showered and got dressed, and I continued re-reading Eric Foner's masterpiece "Reconstruction." It's a doorstop, but it's also one of the most fascinating books I've read, and it should be required reading for anyone who wants to understand the post-Civil War period, and how it continues to affect the country today.
