I don't know that much about him other than his on screen performances, and that he and Wild Turkey collaborated to produce a wonderful bourbon (LongBranch) that has a mesquite flavor to it.  Oh, and that he's on my list of 10.

Matthew McConaughey Floats Idea Of Running For Governor Of Texas

Actor Matthew McConaughey, a movie star known for his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club, among many others, said in an interview this week he wouldn’t rule out running for governor of Texas, saying President Donald Trump’s presidency has shown that Americans respect people with “money and fame” above all else, even in the political realm.

When pressed by radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt on a podcast recording Tuesday about a potential gubernatorial run, McConaughey answered, “I don’t know. I mean, that wouldn’t be up to me. It would be up to the people more than it would me.”

He pointed out other entertainment figures who have successfully transitioned from Hollywood to government, like former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura and Trump.

You might not know this, but I have a thing for Tom Brady (and Bill Clinton)

He doesn't be seem to be offering anything.

Is his campaign going to be: Hey, I'm rich, famous and a good actor.

After 4 years of trump could he do any worse?

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

Nowadays, all it takes to run for office is a lot of money, so I think he qualifies.

Household name, recognizable face, zero experience in politics.... Sounds about right.

Beto O'Rourke came within 4 points of beating Ted Cruz because he went to every one of the 94 counties in Texas and actually talked to people.
There are no givens in Texas politics but a tremendous amount of effort goes a long way. The dems helped Beto's campaign once it became realized that Beto had  a chance against Ted. It will take more than a pretty face and money to become governor of Texas. Never forget, Texas once had a (female) governor named Ima Hogg (for real. Look it up).

Jim Hogg was Governor of Texas from 1891-1895.  He had a daughter named Ima, who was a noted philanthropist, but she never held elected office.

Texas has had two female governors.  Ma Ferguson (1925 to 1927), and Ann Richards (1991 to 1995).

I’m a 5th generation Texan, and bit of a history nut.
