My personal favorite song of The Gambler is Through The Years

Alas, Kenny Rogers is indirectly responsible for a shameful part of my high school years, and was a first step towards my outright despising country music. The song: the (according to many) seminal "The Gambler", which was made the "unofficial theme song" for my year, until the guy responsible for shamelessly promoting it left, and we could all breathe a collective sigh of relief for not having to be subjected to it at his whim.

So, sad for his passing, but not going to miss his music.

Extinguishing the Flame is available on Amazon and supports Australian Bush fire relief.

His first group was the New Christy Minstrels but I remember him when he was with the First Edition and their hit single, Ruby, Don't Take Your Guns to Town in the late 1960s.

The gambler finally folded.  He can count his money now.  Or not.

I think you mean Ruby, Don't Take You Love To Town.

Don't Take Your Guns To Town was a Johnny Cash song.

The First Edition had two hits, I Just Dropped In (To See What  Condition My Condition My Condition Was In) and But You Know I Love You before the name was changed to Kenny Rogers and the First Edition and Ruby was released.

Senior moment Rick? Or maybe you've just spent too much time in the hot tub lately.  ;D

Senior moment.  ;D

I remember his Just Dropped In song. It was during the psychedelic era of rock music. Which probably explains for many of my senior moments.... ;D ;D
