Worst example of store Christmas Music (for me).  We were in Bloomingdales at Mall of America 2 weeks after New Years.  Christmas music still blaring out of their music system.  And, I mean it was loud.  I said something to sales lady and she just rolled her eyes.  Said everyone had been asking manager to stop it, but he said hands were tied.  New York office and laid down the edict.

Since I've lived here now for several years, I've become more sensitive to NYC bashing. Some of it's very deserved, of course, but a lot isn't.

The Mall of American is owned by a Canadian company that's based in Edmonton. And it's U.S. headquarters are in Las Vegas.

^I would imagine that the manager was referring to the store's head office, not the mall's, though that still isn't in New York.

On a somewhat related note, several years ago the Christmas decorations at West Edmonton Mall (the other major holding of that "Canadian company that's based in Edmonton") were up until June for filming of "Christmas in Wonderland".  Apparently it was supposed to be filmed in February but it was delayed by a labor dispute, resulting in a few oddities (sun in places that don't see sun in winter, people in the background in shorts, etc).
