I've been poking around blogs & user groups that deal with self-publishing and I saw a post where a guy said Amazon pulled his advertising because of the content of his book. He claimed it was just run-of-the-mill smut, nothing outrageous, but who knows?

Anyway, that got me to thinking about my recently publish book, which currently has a number of fairly unsuccessful ads running. What if my content gets me banned? Not from selling. Fuckers will sell anything. But they evidently have rules about advertising.

So I hacked a little Word macro that checks my document for George Carlin's Seven Words You Can't Say On TV -- plus a few favorites of mine that didn't make the list. Here's what I found:

16   fucked

1   fucker

47   fucking

3   piss

17   pussy

13   shit

1   tits


So we have 135 variations of fuck. Guess we'll see how long they continue to run my ads.

Can't remember if I had said this in here before.  We had tickets for a George Carlin performance on a Saturday night, way back when. That Friday, while doing his routine in Milwaukee, he was arrested for saying those seven words one is not supposed to say in public. This was the early 1970s. We thought he would cancel the Saturday evening show in a suburb northwest of Chicago. But he was released on bail and appeared, on time, for his Saturday show. He walked on stage, grabbed the microphone, and rattled off those seven words. The audience gave him a standing ovation. He truly was a gifted comedian.

Yeah, I noticed that when I set up "Extinguishing the Flame" to sell on Amazon (obligatory plug: see below for the link to the book itself). As soon as it gets stuck in the Adult section, it's "Nope! We won't advertise your vile scribblings on our prestigious platform!" It's...weird, to say the least, especially given the other content that is available and advertised.

Extinguishing the Flame is available on Amazon and supports Australian Bush fire relief.
