If first dates make you nervous, you're not alone.

Getting to know a complete stranger is a daunting task, and small talk about the weather or your March Madness bracket probably won't shed much light on your compatibility. There's no real way around the initial question-and-answer session, but how can you avoid sounding like you're interviewing your date for a job?

Inspired by a Reddit thread on r/AskWomen, we asked our Facebook and Twitter communities what questions they'd love to hear on a first date. Here are 15 suggestions from Redditors and HuffPost Women followers:

1. "What do you love?"

2. "Tell me your favorite story."

3. "What was your happiest moment in the past month?"

4. "How was your day?"

5. "What is your happiest memory?"

6. "What does your future look like?"

7. "How are you contributing to the world?"

8. "What are your favorite books?"

9. "Which fictional character do you relate to the most?"

10. "What's your favorite quote?"

11. "What do you wish more of your friends would do with you?"

12. "What's your favorite thing about yourself?"

13. "Are you spontaneous?"

14. "What motivates you in life?"

15. "What's the best compliment you've ever received?"

I'm not so sure I'd get a second date if I asked any of the questions above.
Feel free to answer them if you like, it may make for interesting reading, I might even do it myself :D

I think these are awesome thought provoking questions, thanks WBL

1. "What do you love?" - Family, and Friends

2. "Tell me your favorite story." - may not be a "story" per se, but I really like "the sermon on the mount"

3. "What was your happiest moment in the past month?" - simple things, like my employees getting along for a change

4. "How was your day?" - awesome, but hope summer gets here

5. "What is your happiest memory?" - my first born child's first cry

6. "What does your future look like?" - personally it looks great, but from a professional perspective I feel like a dinosaur, or caveman.

7. "How are you contributing to the world?" - community involvement

8. "What are your favorite books?" - history, and for fiction, I recently read the "hunger games" trilogy, and really enjoyed them.

9. "Which fictional character do you relate to the most?" - Peter Parker, when the suit is not working.

10. "What's your favorite quote?" - "its the journey, not the destination"

11. "What do you wish more of your friends would do with you?" - be available more for happy hour

12. "What's your favorite thing about yourself?" - my passion for life, not my own, but humanity, which extends to a my pro-life views, all human life is precious.

13. "Are you spontaneous?" - yes

14. "What motivates you in life?" - faith

15. "What's the best compliment you've ever received?" - when a boss said in his retirement roast, "all i have to do motivate him, is use the word "can't", if I tell him something "can't" be done, he goes off and does it".

1. "What do you love?"   I love doing.   I like staying active and trying new things.

2. "Tell me your favorite story."   I love Disney.   Any princess story.

3. "What was your happiest moment in the past month?"   Many.   My niece crawling in to bed with me because she couldn't sleep.  Snuggling with her.   Waking to find the most peaceful little girl in the world laying next to me.

4. "How was your day?"    Always try to make the best of it.   Everybody has a bad day.   But there's always plenty of good in it.  So.... GOOD.

5. "What is your happiest memory?"   Many.  Most all involve my sister and our childhood.

6. "What does your future look like?"   Good.   Helping to raise my niece.   Which I recently realized that the proper raising of a child is a very important duty.

7. "How are you contributing to the world?"  Offering kind words and compliments.   If I can make someone smile, hopefully they pass it on.

8. "What are your favorite books?"   I like fictional books, any kind.

9. "Which fictional character do you relate to the most?"  I'm in the middle of a series of books my brother in law has on his bookshelf.   It's prehistoric.   It's about a little girl that gets separated from her tribe.    She fights to survive and eventually becomes a strong independent woman.    Many more books in the series to read.

10. "What's your favorite quote?"    I thought it was in my signature but it's not.  Forgot I changed it.   "Wag more.  Bark less."

11. "What do you wish more of your friends would do with you?"   I wish I could have more time with them.   But they have families.    I've never married and never realized how busy a family can be until moving in with my brother-in-law and niece.

12. "What's your favorite thing about yourself?"   My outlook on things.   I have a positive attitude and think I'm well received by others.

13. "Are you spontaneous?"   Yes, very.

14. "What motivates you in life?"   I don't need to be motivated.  I always am.   Which is different from the 20 something Jules.    It was my stint in the army that changed who I am and helped define my character.   Some bad things happened to me while serving, but it helped me in the long run.

15. "What's the best compliment you've ever received?"   A bit of a story behind it.    Again, in the army.   I was chewed out by the drill sergeant one day.   That night, another girl said we said we need to give it 120% and prove ourselves to these macho assholes.   The next morning on a run, one of the macho assholes made a remark to me about getting chewed out and told me to take my prissy ass back home.   All 115 pounds of me threw a shoulder into him knocking him well off balance, then I fell back into formation.   Out of the corner of my eye I saw him coming at me.   I stopped quickly, grabbed his arm, and using his own momentum tossed him over me and flat on his back.  It knocked the wind out of him and he was stunned.   I got in his face and said, "don't you ever fuck with me again," and continued the run.
At breakfast, a staff sergeant pulled me out of the mess hall.   I was unaware he had witnessed it.    I was asked by my DS and the SS what happened.   "He just messed with the wrong person today, sir.   I am sure he's learned from his mistake."
The SS laughed and said, "Don't you take shit from anybody.  Every man in the mess hall respects you a little more today.   Especially me."   He then turned to my DS, who had just chewed me out 12 hours earlier, and said, "God damn we need more like her.   Pound for pound she's the toughest I've seen on this base in years."

.
You might not know this, but I have a thing for Tom Brady (and Bill Clinton)
