Was just reading Lois' WARRANT NEEDED FOR DUI BLOOD TEST topic.

Michigan just passed a law that allows road side drug tests in a pilot program.
They can test your saliva for heroine, coke, marijuana and meth.

Dang, I would have been in so much trouble if they'd had this in the 90's, early 2000's.   I enjoyed the maryjane.

I wonder if it's going to be challenged in court.
It like the needle is invasive (sticking something in your mouth), just not as bad or painful (unless the Officer jams it down your throat to make you gag). Could be interesting, further it could be (possibly) considered a medical procedure (which police are not qualified to do). Should interesting when they implement it.

Love,
Liz

I'm not sure what to think, but in general there needs to be some way of controlling impaired driving. I don't claim specific knowledge about marijuana but it is hard to believe that operating a 3000 pound vehicle at speeds of up to 100 km/hour can every be done as safely when impaired as when sober.

I'm sure every pro marijuana user is going to tear my head off and accuse me of being a closet prohibitionist for that, but until a proper study shows me that toking and driving is safe, I'll hold the same opinion I have about drinking and driving.

While you're waiting in vain for that apology, why don't you make yourself useful by getting on your knees and opening your mouth

I used to smoke quite a bit in my 20's.    The reaction time is way down when buzzed.   There were times I wouldn't get behind the wheel.    Good god, if there wasn't a cruise control, I'd be going from 35mph to 55mph to 25 mph to 60mph, all in the span of a mile.   They need the testing.    I never did the other drugs, just pot.
