Just discovered an old band from the early seventies, Middle of the Road that I hadn't experienced before surprising since that's kind of my era. Really hot lead singer, sound a lot like ABBA, lots of videos on youtube. Another one from that time I also just discovered is Showaddydaddy (probably spelled that wrong) kind of an English Sha-na-na.

I'm not surprised, Tag. Lots of gems of music out there one can miss the first time. From listening to The House Of Hair for years now, i'm hearing musicians I never heard of before as well as songs by musicians I do know of. It's awesome to find those lost gems.

LOL, I don't think I've ever heard a band I didn't know on House Of Hair. More so I end up hearing a song that I just forgot about. Dee really doesn't mix it up much on there

I don't know. I listen every Saturday night and it's usually weeks before I hear him repeat a song, and it's usually by request.

Repeating a song is not really what I meant by not mixing it up. They really do not dig deep into the underground non radio played hair band stuff nor do they break into song 10 off an album that nobody but the people who owned it ever heard. It's kind of like listening to Hair Nation on XM. I love the set list and I hear a bunch of stuff I "forgot" about, but they never really play anything that I don't remember.

I don't know how old you are GG but I'm 47. I was a senior in 1985 at the hay day times of hair music. It was all that was played on the radio rock channels. House of hair, hair nation and hell, I'll throw in Eddie Trunk into the list never really stray far from that path.

I've always said, I like songs that get played on the radio, I like bands when I can put on an album and like a large percent of what you will never hear on the radio also.

OK GG, a good internet music channel that you should be able to get on your phone (I have it on mine),

http://tunein.com/

Look for KNAC.com on there. KNAC is an on-line radio station that plays more so 80's hair metal and heavy rock. Probably to hard for your tastes bu they have a really good weekend show that you should really like, and it's free. Saturdays at 10am EST is Eddie Trunk Rocks. YES, Eddie Trunk from "That Metal Show" on VH1. It's a 3 hour show and is a really great show each and every week.

Thanks, Coach! I'll look into it.
I had known of Eddie Trunk before THAT METAL SHOW. His show played Friday nights on Q104.3 out of New York.
Funny thing was, I never cared for his radio show. He was rough on Rock groups i'd like or on albums i'd like. I LOVE THAT METAL SHOW though [especially Jennifer "Miss Box Of Junk" Gottlieb... -drools- ]. And he has had members of those Rock groups he was rough on on the TV show.
Stump The Trunk is my favorite feature. I know a lot about Rock music, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to Eddie's knowledge!

He's not rough, he's honest. Not a lot of people on the radio are anymore. They are all afraid to speak their minds on how they really feel about artists, bands and the music they are putting out in fear that they might get dropped. Eddie could care less as his show is also broadcast on-line in a few different ways.

I just read your previous post, Coach. As far as my age goes, it is on my Profile. I just turned 32 October 30th. As I mentioned in other threads, I spent TONS of time when I was very little watching MTV [I remember very little else of what I watched during the '80s other than '70s reruns of The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch :P ], it was kind of my babysitter. Got to love bad parenting! ;-)

You're right, Eddie is being honest, it's his honest opinion. And people always have different opinions, sometimes opinions clash. Nothing wrong with that. My opinion on certain Rock groups just clash with Eddie's, no big thing.

Coach and GG - I listened to the music of the 80s because that is what our children were listening to and trying to be a good parent we wanted to make sure what our children were listening to conformed to what we believed in.  I can remember the first time I heard  MTV on a television, in a hotel room in Boston. Sting was singing their Every Breath I Take song.   MTV had just started.  I loved it, since I much preferred music over television. Then VH-1 came around.  Another great channel.  I still prefer the oldies though now I listen in the car on Sirius XM radio to Jimmy Buffet.  Reminds me of the days spent on the beach.....

I remember my mom asking me if I had Ozzy's "Suicide Solution" after a few kids killed themselves while listening to it. She wanted to hear it herself and make that thought from what she did hear to understand the parents POV. I had it (on vinyl) and played it for her. Was the start of her listening to hard rock/metal from the 80's. She took me to see Dio a bunch of times along with other bands.

Wife and I take the kids to all kinds of shows now. We listen to most of what they do also. I get right on the main floor with them. We download the albums to our iPods and hook up the Aux cord whenever we are in the car.

As for XM, I'm more an Octane listener, along with the other rock channels

And Pandora also. I have all three on the phone tho I do tend to just listen to the XM.

Kids love Pandora. They just stream the free player.
