I've had this conversation with a number of people over the years, and though I would put it up here for all to contribute.

If you had it to do over, would you go into the same profession you are in now?
I've often been surprised by the numbers of people who say no, especially people like Dr's, Nurses, and Police.

I've just completed 25 years in the Civil Service (in England) and I've got no regrets really.  I wish the government would leave us alone to actually serve the public!

Time over though?  I'd have stayed on after college and gone to uni and got myself something better

You only get one crack at this....be happy

I would still do the same.

Some time ago, I asked my dad the same question, I was curious since being a soldier seemed to have taken a toll on his life, our families life, and our relationships. He took a long pause, looked me in the eye. and said "Yes."

He then said, that good things don't result because everything is perfect. Good things happen because people sacrifice themselves to make them happen.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

People asking that question always wonder how much better things could have been, but very few ask how much worse they could have been. I'm happy with my life. Are there regrets? Sure, but the things I do have I would never be willing to give up.

While you're waiting in vain for that apology, why don't you make yourself useful by getting on your knees and opening your mouth
