“There were a whole group of pregnant moms standing out there linking arms and they got gassed. You hear people like [President] Trump say it’s just a bunch of wacko fringe people in liberal cities who are out there, but no way. We’re all just normal people who think what’s happening is wrong.”

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/07/20/christopher-david-portland-protest-video/%3foutputType=ampI’m guessing most have seen this, the guy in the Navy sweatshirt standing like a redwood tree (analogy stolen) while getting whacked with batons and pepper sprayed in the face by Trump’s jackbooted thugs sent deliberately to a ‘liberal’ city to cause trouble. I saw this a couple days ago, then last night I read the name Christopher David, Chris David. And my mind clicked, because I knew a Chris David in the early 90s. Then I remembered Chris was in the Navy, a Lieutenant at the time I knew him. He was also a Navy Academy grad and an engineer for the Navy stationed near Baltimore, so everything seemed to fit. I still thought maybe it’s a coincidence, so I looked at more articles and found his pics as a Naval Academy grad and how he looks now. Yep, it’s my friend.
Thinking about him, it doesn’t surprise me in the least he watched the Feds on TV in his home of Portland and felt he had to go there and ask these guys about their oath to the the Constitution, and that oath is not to one person, but to the country. It sounds like the Chris I knew. He was an all around good guy and a gentle giant. We played many games of pool together and hung out. The Navy transferred him and he had to leave town, so we threw a party for him, one he showed up late to because he had a girl with him. Apparently, they had been busy before they came (or came before they showed up). I saw him once more about a year later when he showed up in town. I was low on money, so he handed me a $20 that I never got a chance to pay back. It was the last time I saw him until he became a viral meme.
Here’s to you Chris! Take care of that hand.
