Anyone know what happened to the website Xnovel?  They had tons of c rated novels posted but it seems to have disappeared.

I have the lot.  Since you're interested, I'll find 'em and upload them somewhere.  The copyright has expired on all of 'em, so they're free to distribute.

Xnovel pretty much died after Christmas 2008.  I think there were only 4 or 5 updates after that, and I'm reasonably sure that I got 'em.

Hang tight...  I have to go hunt down which archive harddrive they're on.  It's been several years.

Normally, copyright extends to the life of the author PLUS 50 years.  If the author is unknown (and virtually everything at Xnovel was written by anonymous pseudonyms) then it's a max of 50 years from the date it was created.

If they want to fight it then they have to prove that they were the author.  That's hard when the original publishers are long gone.  There's nobody to fight a suit.

I don't know if anyone is still looking at this thread. Anyway, I downloaded Ropefiend's Xnovel archive, which appears to have 1,299 books. I have 1,761. Did I miss something on google docs? If not, I have 462 additional books. I'm happy to share the wealth if anyone is interested.

Wow, what a treasure.

When I opened the archive file I found 1,762 individual zip files, one of which was a listing or table of contents for the collection.

This is going to keep me busy for a while!

Hello Friends!

Great to find this threat. I am trying to access the Google drive, have requested access, but nothing yet. Does anyone have access to the xnovel zip files?  Would love to get them!  I used to access xnovels, and downloaded a bit, but have no where near the complete collection.

Unfortunately I lost my copy of it just about a year ago when my previous computer died. I downloaded it right after doing a backup and it died before I could back up again.  :(

Oh no!!!!  @purpleshoes . . . I am so sorry for the computer troubles, ugh that sounds awful, and that is horrible to hear about the loss of all of the xnovels, ugh. Well, I’ll keep searching.
